It should be noted that it is a 19 inch sai, and that may not be long enough for some people who want a sai that will extend beyond their elbow when held in reverse position. If that is the case, they should purchase a 21" sai.
For me, the sai was an excellent choice because I am still a relative beginner, and having a sai for training was important. As long as I can do the kata ni-cho-sai, that is what is important to me.
This is not a toy. It should be used for training only under the supervision of a qualified martial arts instructor. If you are doing weapons training under the supervision of an instructor in a martial arts school, you may find that this is waht you want. The Octagon Sai from Valor is beautifully crafted, sturdy and the genuine leather wrapping did not fall off during a sparring session with a friend of mine who is a martial arts weapons expert as well. He used the Bo, rubber Nunchaku, and an un-sharpened Katana against the Valor Sai. This Sai fended off those weapons nicely. We switched weapons, and the results were the same.
The Valor Sai is a fantastic buy!
