Uesugi Kenshin was a powerful lord in the Sengoku period devout in his belief to the warrior god and known for his amazing military tactics. The dark red saya (scabbard) is quite noticeable, coated with high gloss paint and finished with a lustrous lacquer decorated with soft brown cotton sageo (cord). The sageo matches the ito (braid) on the tsuka (handle) and is also braided from soft cotton; two menuki (wooden pegs) can be seen on the tsuka. The kashira (buttcap) and fuchi (tsuka collar) are both decorated with samurai images and match the samurai menuki (handle ornament), all are coated with an antique finish. The tsuba (guard) is created from a zinc-alloy and displays a samurai on horseback; the reverse side depicts several Japanese kanji. Cotton sword bag included for convenient storage, caution is advised when handling. Measures 42 inches closed, 41 inches open with a 28.5 inch blade, 18/64 blade thickness. Weighs 2lbs 10oz closed and 2lbs 4oz open.
