This is a replication of the Katana of one of five generals that served Hideyoshi Toyotomi. This period was one of the most famous in Japanese history, and created some of the greatest heros of Samurai history. It was shortly after the death of Toyotomi that the Tokugawa period of Japan was established.
This sword has been made with precise detail to the original sword, and true to its original it has been made in the ancient method. The sword has been hand forged and is full tang with beautiful brass fittings and razor sharp blade.

Blade: The blade of the sword was created in the old six step process of forging. The hamon of the blade was heated with clay applied for an authentic temper line. A bloodline has been added to the ridge of the blade for better balance. The yokote is well defined above the boshi and the kissake is razor sharp. The sword has perfect balance and is full tang. The blade comes battle ready and razor sharp.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a glossy black finish. The sageo is black cotton with a golden kurigata.
Tsuba: The tsuba is round in the Maru Gata style with three circular cut outs. Three orchids are on each point of the design with vines trailing down to the rim of the guard. The tsuba begins with a golden blade collar over a spacer and ends with another golden spacer and steel fitting. The tsuba is constructed from aged brass.
Handle: The handle of the sword is imitation shark skin with a black cotton wrap. There are two wooden pins holding the handle to the tang. Two golden dragons, one on each side, act as the Menuki. The pommel of the sword is brass with the same design as the guard.

Comment: I have always wanted a hand made Japanese katana preferably from Japan made by a master (this one is made in China go figure) but this is close to the real thing for now.....it is sharp maybe not to a Highlander standards though........

Comment: I bought this sword as a wedding gift for a good friend. First thing we did once he got it was to get some watermelons and have some fun cutting.
I'm no expert in katana construction but this sword stands apart from the average decorative kind. The blade itself is hand made and you can tell the lines of the high carbon steel. The sword comes in sharp. i would not mess around with it, you could hurt someone. But most of all, it feels extremely well balanced and when you cut, the sword never feels wobbly or "weak" like the decorative kind do.
I would say it is a true value for the craftsmanship involved. Kudos for the stand and the polishing kit that they include.

Comment: The edge of the sword is very sharp, and so is its point. Timely delivery. They said they'll deliver between 25th Mar- 8th Apr, and the goods arrived on 25th Mar.
Scabbard is very smoothly polished.
It does not come with proper box container for me to keep the sword, though.
I would like to recommend this sword to you if you need to buy a katana.
