NANA Volume 1 contains all information needed for beginning nunchaku students, covering the material required for advancment through the first two ranks (belts) in the North American Nunchaku Association. Basic strikes, blocks and spins are covered. Summary: The best out there at a very reasonable price
Comment: This entire series is the best curriculum for Nunchaku that I've seen and at an extremely reasonable price compared to some Nunchaku curriculums available through the internet. Unlike some systems, it goes from basics to very advanced concepts in a graduated approach that students (or instructors) can actually use and understand at their own pace (using a Belt Level approach). Many systems go directly from the basics to a flashy, ego driven demonstration of power, speed and technique that even at single frame speed can not be followed and replicated. This, as with all the DVDs in the series does not suffer from any of these shortcomings. Instead it is a methodological, logical, and measured approach that anyone can easily follow with success in their own instruction or in instructing others! The series is very complete in the techniques presented and their use in "sets" or structured sequences (for those who ultimately plan to teach, compete, and/or create their own forms). The only shortcoming I see (and this is just me) is the music. I'd rather have an instructor's voice going through the drill and explaining the subtleties of each movement in the regular speed and slow motion demos. The techniques are very inclusive and applicable not only to various North American techniques, but Okinawa Nunchaku, Korean "Ye Do Bo," freestyle, etc. While many products are directed toward the after school/daycare, play sparring, activities environment, this product is directed toward serious students who want to learn valuable techniques and understand the art behind these.

Summary: Best available intro to the nunchaku
Comment: There are many available visual materials for the nunchaku, but the NANA DVD is the best introduction, owing to its clear presentation and progressive learning methodology.
This is of particular value if - like me (in Europe) - you live far from any reliable nunchaku instruction. The instructor's mastery of the nunchaku is evident from this and the following DVDs in the NANA series.
Whether you wish to learn some essential nunchaku moves to supplement your martial arts knowledge, or you wish to achieve mastery of this deceptively complex weapon, you can't find a better starting point than this DVD and its accompanying notes.

Summary: Awesome Instruction!
Comment: This dvd series in certinaly one of a kind!! I started watching this series expecting the typical shallow depth and usual look at a weapon's use, but I was quickly shcoked to see the material! It is awesome and like nothing else!! To anyone out there reading this review, do yourself a favour and trust in this DVD. It will teach you in an easy to follow and extremely beneficial manner, the tricks and secrets of the Nunchaku! Enjoy!

Comment: I have seen more than a few martial arts instructional videos, and none can touch the quality and the ease with which you can learn from these instructional nunchaku DVD's. They are extremely user friendly and packed with practical and good looking technique. This is highly recommended for both the new and aspiring nunchaku practioner looking for a place to start and the seasoned veteran looking for something new and refreshing.

Comment: This system for learning nunchuks is great for students of all skill levels. The DVDs will take a person from the basic strikes and blocks to advanced techniques and forms. Each DVD has the sets (techniques) and forms presented and explained in normal speed and also in slow speed to make the material easier to learn.
This is a great way to learn the nunchuks or, if you are already skilled with nunchuks, to improve your skill by learning some of the more difficult forms, sets, spins and tricks.
