Summary: Bang for the buck.
Comment: Simply concept, simply-designed item. Of all the deterrent-type devices available, a spring baton is possibly the MOST reliable

Customer Rating: Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5
Summary: Cheap, sleek, and compact
Comment: This is an inferior version of the spring baton, but it is better than nothing I suppose. My chief complaints are: 1.) The knurled aluminum handle gets very cold in the wintertime, can slip out of sweaty hands, transfers shock of impact directly to one's fingers, and it is difficult to tell if you're holding it upside down without looking at it; 2.) Unreliability -- 4 out of 5 times it snaps open fully or partially, but 20% of the time the button tip snagged on the lip of the tube, jamming the device and preventing it from opening at all . . . how embarassing!

On the plus side, it is the most compact and lightweight baton available, and looks classier than the better engineered devices with rubberized grips and wrist lanyards.

A nifty toy, but I wouldn't rely on it.
